Remembering Our Past | Sowing Seeds

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Grief & Loss Center. Over the past decade, the Center has provided grief support to over 3000 clients..

2011

Chartered the Grief & Loss Center of North Texas 501(c)(3) non-profit and served our first client

2012

Launched first SAM (Same As Me) children's grief support group for ages 4-18

Commemorated our inaugural Celebrate Hope Dinner at Lakewood Country Club

2013

Facilitated our first school group at Mockingbird Elementary (formerly known as Stonewall Elementary) in Dallas

2014

Spouse/Partner Loss support group began meeting to build community by teaching grief coping skills tailored to their unique needs

Expanded our adult grief support groups and had our first summer intern

2015

Started the annual Mother’s Day Tea for bereaved moms

2016

Created a Young Adult support group, addressing an unserved market, which has grown to an average of 30 young adults

Assisted a school support group in Rowlett for 25 students impacted by a tornado

2017

Adopted Hope, our certified therapy Beagle, who provides comfort to all individual clients and support groups

2018

Started offering year-round monthly grief support groups for specific grievers and their needs

2019

Provided grief support to children in a community center following the shooting of their 13 year-old friend

2020

Quickly pivoted to virtual grief support for individuals and support groups to continue to support all grievers during the Covid-19 pandemic


Our Next Decade | Harvesting Hope

Our Board of Directors identified 10 critical success factors in our strategic plan to sustain our growth over the next decade.

  1. Grow revenue by at least 10% per year

  2. Responsibly grow by a minimum of 10% per year the number of children, youth, and adults receiving GLC services

  3. Maintain and increase excellent client satisfaction

  4. Increase number of donors by 10% per year

  5. Increase donor satisfaction and retention rates

  6. Provide more grief education opportunities for our clients and the community

  7. Increase the percentage of awarded grants

  8. Improve marketing effectiveness, brand awareness, and stakeholder loyalty

  9. Grow the number of professional staff

  10. Train additional facilitators and grief support advocates
