They Are Our “Why”

Asking for donations has always been challenging for me, but I do it because I see the profound impact our Center has on the lives of our community members—the children, parents, and families we walk alongside. Our only fundraiser, North Texas Giving Day, is here, and it’s what makes rebuilding lives after loss possible. Please give if you are able by clicking on this link: https://www.northtexasgivingday.org/organization/Grief-And-Loss-Center-Of-North-Texas

Your gifts provide the love, support, and encouragement that our community members need as they grieve the loss of their precious loved ones. Their voices speak more powerfully than mine ever could, and as you read their words below, you’ll see why we ask for your support.

‘I am so grateful for my support group. They help me understand that anything I feel is alright. They have lifted me up in some of my darkest days. I can't imagine being on this journey without these special people.’

When I lost my son, I needed love, empathy, and understanding. I found them all at the Grief and Loss Center.

‘I feel the warmth and acceptance of my teen group. They understand because they've also lost someone they love. We're learning how to grieve in a healthy way.’

‘I needed courage, friendship, and strength, and I found them all at the Grief and Loss Center. It's through our meetings that I have seen my own growth and the strength I've gained to move forward in my life.’

‘There is no stigma or judgment at the Grief and Loss Center. Our group is a refuge from all that. I don't know where I'd be without their love and support.’

‘What sets the Center apart is the absence of denomination and respect for individual faith traditions. This allows for diversity in experiences and has opened me up to philosophies and worldviews I have incorporated into my own battery of coping mechanisms.’

‘I love coming to SAM's because I get to talk about my baby brother, who died.’

‘We feel like part of a family at the Grief and Loss Center. We never expected our aunt to be murdered. SAM's helped us remember who she was as a person and not just how she died.’

‘During the time of our greatest darkness after our daughter's suicide, we were met with absolute warmth and kindness at the Grief and Loss Center. The parents who attend our group have the kindest hearts, having experienced the greatest pain.’

Our community members are, and always will be, our ‘why.’ With your generosity, the Grief and Loss Center can continue rebuilding lives after loss—offering hope, courage, and connection to every child, parent, and family who comes to us for support. Thank you for making this journey of healing possible.
