Your Help Gives Others Hope

Laurie Taylor

You can change the lives of grieving preschoolers, children, teens, adults and senior adults. You truly can bring hope to the hundreds of clients who reach out to the Grief & Loss Center each year. Our Center is based on hope. Grief Support Group participation is at no cost. And through your donations from today until North Texas Giving Day on Thursday, September 23rd, you can give others the hope they need at the most devastating time of their life.

Donors to the Grief & Loss Center have compassionately touched many lives and recently brought glimmers of hope to:

  • a little boy whose dad died from COVID

  • a precious 8-year-old whose dad was murdered

  • five young siblings whose mom unexpectedly died

  • the child who lost their little sibling from a degenerative disease

  • overwhelmed parents who have experienced the death of a child

  • heartbroken adults whose spouses/partners have died.

Children ages 4 – 18 come to us for grief support from every area of the metroplex. We had eleven new children join our SAM’s (Same As Me) Kids Support Group in August 2021.

And let’s remember the adults who come to us after the death of their spouses/partners. As they share their stories and begin to rebuild their lives as part of our Spouse/Partner Loss Group, you provide this opportunity for them to grow and heal.

And there’s the young adults who are grieving the death of a parent, a sibling or someone else they dearly love. Our center is one of the very few in the metroplex offering a Young Adult Grief Group for 18-35-year-old young people. You are the reason it’s possible for this group to exist.

When the unbelievable happens and families are devasted by homicide, our Homicide Loss Group walks with them as they grieve and maneuver their way through the legal system in the search for justice. You are there as they share the myriad of emotions and thoughts that come with such a traumatic loss.

When parents experience the death of a child, you provide the opportunity for them to meet with other parents who understand the impact this has on their lives. Our Child Loss Group offers a safe, nurturing space for them to process their grief.

You make it possible for us to meet with parents who have experienced the suicide death of a child. Their hearts are shattered as they process additional layers of grief. Because of your support, through our Parent Group for Child Loss by Suicide, they are able to meet with other parents who understand what they are going through.

When adults experience the death of a dear friend, a parent, a sibling, or other beloved family member, they come to our center to begin the healing process. Through our Family & Friends Group, you are there as they share their pain and start the long road to reconciling their grief.

The death of an older adult child is a devastating and often very disenfranchised. No matter what her age, a mother’s heart breaks when she loses a child. Our Senior Adult Moms Group provides a community of other moms who share the unthinkable experience of the loss of an adult child.

Because of your donations, you make it possible for us to listen to their stories, comfort their hearts, and provide the hope they so desperately need. We absolutely could not do this without you.

We need your support now more than ever before. We’ve twice cancelled our annual fundraiser events in 2020 and again this year, due to COVID concerns. This makes North Texas Giving Day incredibly important to our financial stability. You can make a huge difference.

Thank you for your continued support. Thank you for donating to the Grief & Loss Center on North Texas Giving Day. Donations can be made beginning today through September 23rd.

We are counting on you as we never counted on you before. Thank you for offering hope to so many children, teens and adults who are grieving the death of their special loved one.
